Robot Bartender ADAM Steals the Show at CES 2025
At CES 2025 in Las Vegas, attendees were treated to all sorts of futuristic gadgets, but one device that truly amazed people was ADAM, a robotic bartender. Developed by Richtech Robotics, ADAM amazed individuals with its unique look and remarkable functionality. Resembling Baymax from Disney’s Big Hero 6, the robot was an instant crowd favorite, wowing the crowd with its smooth, flexible arms and precise drink-pouring abilities.
Among the notable figures who had the pleasure of experiencing ADAM’s skills up close and personal were Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and CNBC’s Jim Cramer. Cramer, whose effervescent nature is well-known, willingly accepted a green cocktail from ADAM, raising his glass and exclaiming, “Cheers! Thank you, ADAM!” The encounter, which was recorded on video, quickly went viral, further solidifying ADAM’s status as one of the most talked-about displays at CES.
Although designed primarily to mix and serve drinks, ADAM is somewhat more than a bartender. It can also brew coffee and engage in simple conversation, although its speech capability is still a little robotic. It refers to itself as “your friendly robot barista” and claims to be able to make over 50 varieties of drinks. Although its conversational abilities are still improving, its existence is a massive stride in the foray of robotics into the hospitality and service industries.
Flying Cars and Solar-Powered Cars: The Future of Transportation
CES 2025 also saw the latest in transportation technologies, with flying cars and solar-powered vehicles taking center stage. One of the most shocking unveilings was the Xpeng AeroHT Land Aircraft Carrier, a revolutionary six-wheel minivan that doubles as an electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft carrier.
Developed by Xpeng AeroHT, a China-based company, this futuristic vehicle features a six-propeller drone that can transport passengers, essentially making personal travel an air-and-ground hybrid. The minivan itself is boxy like the Tesla Cybertruck, but the highlight is its ability to seamlessly transition between road and air travel. Priced at $280,000, the vehicle has already received over 2,000 pre-orders following the successful flight of its prototype in 2024.
Another showstopper in the transportation category was Aptera, a solar-powered electric three-wheeler. With a sporty, teardrop-inspired design and Lamborghini-style scissor doors, Aptera was a green and futuristic option for daily commuters. The vehicle’s most intriguing aspect is its built-in solar panels, which allow it to travel 40 miles per day on solar power alone.
The company claims that under ideal conditions, Aptera can go up to 11,000 miles per year without ever having to be plugged into a charging station or gas pump whatsoever. That makes it one of the greenest cars on the road. Some industry commentators have already shown skepticism about its performance on cloudy days and busy highways, questioning whether solar by itself will be sufficient to keep pace with the demands of long-distance drivers on a regular basis.
Tech Pets: From Robo-Dogs to Cat Air Purifiers
CES 2025 also featured a range of innovative tech-enabled pet products, designed to improve the lives of pets and their human families. Among the most intriguing exhibits were Tombot Inc.’s highly realistic robot dogs.
Unlike other robot pets, these realistic robot dogs can wiggle their tails, tilt their heads, and emit a variety of realistic sounds, bringing a comforting presence to their owners.
The dogs are designed primarily for older people with dementia, bringing emotional comfort with less use of psychotropic medication. Priced at around $300, these robotic pets offer an affordable alternative to real pets and are particularly handy for those who may not be in the situation to care for a living animal. At the opposite end of the robot pet spectrum, Unitree introduced the Go2, a high-performance robot dog that can run, jump, and even perform tricks like handstands and dances. While its functionality is incredible, its metallic body and whirling Lidar sensor make it appear more like a military-themed robotic assistant rather than a loving home pet. For cat lovers, LG introduced the AeroCatTower, a dual-purpose cat tree and air purifier. The AeroCatTower has a heated upper seat and advanced filtering technology that maintains a clean and cozy environment for both pets and their owners.
Adding to the roster of unusual tech, Japanese company Yukai Engineering introduced the Nékojita FuFu, a cat-shaped robotic device for cooling down hot beverages.
Named after the Japanese moniker for “cat tongue” (a colloquialism for people who can’t deal with hot drinks), this adorable gadget blows cool air over a coffee or tea cup to bring it down to a drinkable temperature.
Set to go on sale in mid-2025 for just $25, the Nékojita FuFu is bound to be a hit with coffee and tea lovers.
